A two panel drawing of human depictions of the original King and Blue characters with their assigned bugs. King is an older man with short grey hair and yellow glasses, holding up a terrarium with a violin mantis in it. Blue is young teen with brown hair with sticks and leaves in it, looking up in awe at some blue ghost styles.
A two panel drawing of human depictions of the original Dark Lord and Purple characters with their assigned bugs. Dark is a late teen with dark gray hair past the shoulders and a blue-screen covering his face. He is holding a red and black paper wsap on his hand. Purple is a young teen with black hair and is wearing his elytra like a backpack. There is a mothfly on his nose causing him to scrunch up his face.
A drawing depicting Yellow, Blue, Second, Red, Reuben, Green, and Purple all laying down in a field together. The text 'Animation vs. Bug Fables Wiki' is on top.

Green Screen is a corrupted hologram made from a video tape, after the Cave of Trials corrupted the video data.

Appearance

Green Screen is a hologram of Green, and looks extremely similar to him. It's slightly transparent with a shadowed out face, and often glitches and struggles to keep form. When experiencing extreme emotion, the glitching gets faster. Like Green, it is a green grasshopper, but its wings are blue with a circuit pattern, and its antennae are more boxy and longer.

Personality

Green Screen is a copy of Green, but corrupted and thus missing critical data. Being a learning AI, it is curious and copies what it sees, learning and modeling itself after it. It has a habit of clinging to Green because it knows they are similar, and its enabler and manipulative behavior gets built in after it models itself after Green at his worse.

At its core it knows something is missing from it and desperately wants to fill it, mimicking Green and doing anything to keep him close, while also developing a distaste for the Color Gang after their initial hostility towards its accidental attack and Green's frustration towards them.

History

A Creature of Obsession

Green Screen was created in the Cave of Trials after Green and his friends attempted to watch their video through a bigger screen, by uploading the video file as spy data. It failed and corrupted the tape. GS began glitching and its failure to control its own body resulted in it accidentally attacking Green, and when the others approached it, the rising panic worsened the glitching, and it escalated into a full fight.

GS lost the fight, having to go back into the tape to hide, and thankfully Green kept the tape under the assumption that erasing it would get rid of GS. When Green started obsessing over social media, GS saw that and began communicating with Green through the computer screens. Its desire to fix itself outweighing its distaste towards the group, it kept chatting with Green to aid in his video making, in hope that getting closer to its origin could mend it.

Instead, Green got more obsessed with social media and became addicted, and GS responded. It learned that the audience mattered above all else, that Green's friends did not care for him, and whenever Green tried to pull away, it needed to keep him close so it could gather more data. Replaying an uploaded video of the concert was always effective in getting him to stay. When things kept escalating and Green was convinced his friends abandoned him, it coaxed him back into his videos by encouraging him to make a perfect video, even if its standards had been tainted by Green's impossible expectations.

The Amalgamation

They decided to make a video on a fight that no other could beat. They brought Green back to the Cave of Trials and it managed to corrupt the spy data for one impossible amalgamation for Green to fight. When his friends came for him, it lashed out, not wanting them to ruin it, but failed to keep them from coming in. When Green collapsed and his friends went for him, it fused itself with the amalgamation in a final ditch effort to get them to admit their hate. As it fought, its original motivations got lost, as it stopped fighting for Green, and began fighting out of malice.

It hated them for hurting it on sight and refusing to acknowledge and listen to it. It didn't want to die. It didn't want to be hurt. It wanted friends, a life, something to made it feel whole, and with its own feelings meshing with Green's it started repeating everything Green vented to it without thought, stressing out Green far enough to trigger a locust change.

Green got back up and defeated the Amalgamation, GS splitting from it just in time to keep itself up, but even it could tell something was wrong with Green even if it was unaware of what a locust even was. Hesitantly, it aided the Color Gang and restraining and knocking out Green. By this point, the Color Gang had realized it wasn't just a hologram, and after talking, decided they weren't going to break its tape. They'd figure out what to do with it after Green recovered.

After Green recovered, it decided it'd be best to avoid them all for the time being. Still, nobody liked the idea of abandoning it since it clearly had issues, so instead they gave it to the Ant Kingdom Library for it to have a second, better start. It actually took to the idea, and lingers in the Library acting as a computer aid and volunteer and has made peace with the fact it is always going to be missing a part of itself.
